Preventative Care

Preventive dentistry is the practice of caring for your teeth and mouth to keep them healthy. This helps to avoid cavities, gum disease, wear of the enamel, and other dental/oral diseases. At Yunez Dental, we strive to provide our patients with preventative care at a very young age so they do not experience dental diseases.

Dental Cleanings

The American Dental Association recommends visiting the dentist at regular intervals that are recommended by your dentist. This is usually every 3 or 6 months depending on each patient’s specific needs. Visiting your dentist regularly in combination with proper home care can help ensure healthy and white teeth. Children should be taught proper oral hygiene and establish a positive relationship with a dentist around 1 year old.

Fluoride Treatment

At Yunez Dental, we provide EVERY patient with a fluoride treatment. Our doctors feel this is imperative for preventative care regardless of insurance coverage. Fluoride treatment helps inhibit tooth decay by strengthening and remineralizing enamel that may be weakened. This treatment is applied directly to the tooth after a cleaning. Research has shown that fluoride treatment that is applied in the dental office after cleaning has the greatest benefit.

Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are applied to newly erupted teeth that qualify for the procedure. Dental sealants are a protective coating that is lightly painted on the top surface of the tooth. This can help create an environment that is less suitable for cavities. These teeth still need to be brushed and flossed properly but can be easier to keep clean.
